Update: Charges Dropped in Bus Stop Incident

The charge against Donald Dove has been dismissed and he has been released from custody. The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says they got additional information that the identification of Dove was not correct.


Bedford Co., VA - A Campbell County registered sex offender is back behind bars after Bedford County investigators say he tried to get a girl to come to his home.

Donald Dove, 68, of Evington was arrested Thursday afternoon. He is facing multiple charges and is being held in jail with no bond.

On Wednesday about 7:30 a.m., the Sheriff's Office says they got a call about a man who had walked up to a 13-year-old girl at her bus stop. Investigators say the man talked about his home and asked her if she'd like to go back there with him.

According to the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry, he was convicted of two sexual assault charges in 1984 and two more in 1985.
