Martinsville, VA -- Tuesday was the first big event this year to lead up to the Martinsville Speedway race in April. They had NASCAR Camping World Truck testing. They had several drivers, including Halifax County native, Jeb Burton, testing at Martinsville. That's Ward Burton's son.Drivers and the media were not the only ones at the Speedway, some fans even came out to watch. Speedway president, Clay Campbell, tells us while the race is still a few weeks away, they have some maintenance to do before the big weekend. They still have to do painting, line striping, and minor things like that, but of course, they will wait until after testing is over. Campbell says for the most part, the track is ready and the operations are right on schedule. With such a busy upcoming few weeks, we asked Campbell which he likes more, the preparations for the race or the actual race."I like it all. You can't do one without the other. It's a lot of preparation, a lot of work goes into behind the scenes, so to speak but that's all exciting and it all culminates with the race weekend," said Campbell. The Martinsville Speedway race is the first weekend in April.
