Henry Co., VA -- The United Way of Henry County and Martinsville needs your help.
The charity has raised $625,000 so far for the current campaign. But they say that's still short of their annual goal. If they don't raise the remaining $125,000, they say they won't be able to provide the same support.
Donations go toward providing grants to agencies around the community. From after-school programs to helping needy populations, they say they're stretched thin.
"Unfortunately when donations are down, that's also the time when many agencies see their needs go up. Because as times are difficult in the community, those agencies are seeing more and more people come in their doors," said Tiffani Underwood, executive director of the United Way for Henry County-Martinsville.
Underwood says that any donations, large or small, help. Volunteers are also appreciated, too.
Donations can be made in a variety of ways. You can go to the United Way website to make a donation with a credit card.
A check can be made to P.O. Box 951 Martinsville, VA 24114. Or you can donate in person at 134 E. Church Street in the basement of the Suntrust building.
