Two Men Embark On Six Day Journey Driving Antique Tractors
They're driving to Indiana, but it's going to take them six days, because they'll be driving antique tractors.
Brothers Wayne and Lloyd Smith will be driving their 1950 model tractors over 650 miles to Portland, Indiana to attend the Tri-State Ford Tractor Show.
They'll be hitting the road on Wednesday, but The Halifax County Heritage Festival Committee had a sendoff party for them on Sunday at the South Boston Visitors Center.
"I have said for a long time when I retired, I'd just like to get on my tractor and head west somewhere. After this show came along, I said, well i'm not getting any younger and i'm certainly not getting any richer so now is the time to do it," Wayne Smith said.
The brothers also plan to drive the tractors home on their return trip, for a total of over 1,300 miles on the tractors.
