Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce gave out two prestigious awards Thursday morning during its annual meeting.
John Keith got the F.M. "Dink" Cloyd award for service. John has recently retired after almost 27 years as Director, Human Resources for J. Crew. John served on the Chamber's Board of Directors from 1995-97 and again from 2006 to the present.
John Mastroianni got the George Taylor Stewart the Third Award for community service. John retired in 2008 and has dedicated his time to giving back. He has focused his energies in working with at-risk youth through the Old Dominion Job Corp. He also serves on the Region 2000 Workforce Investment Board which works to ensure that our workforce and future workforce have the skills needed to succeed. John served on the Chamber's Board of Directors from 1990-93 and served as Chairman of the Board from 1991-93 and now serves as the Chamber's Small Business Committee Chair
During the breakfast, interim president Christine Kennedy asked the group for input on a regional vision that would create a more economically vibrant place to call home. Chamber members were asked to complete a brief questionnaire identifying the top issues needing to be addressed to move the region forward. The top three responses were: pro-business climate, business recruitment to the region followed by existing business growth.
