Two Admit to Scheming Lowe's for Thousands of Dollars

Lynchburg, VA - Two North Carolina men pleaded guilty in a Lynchburg court to quite a scheme that defrauded a home improvement store out of more than $400,000.

Desirique Darnell Rorie, 38, and Alphonzo Jermaine Christian, 35, admitted to defrauding Lowe's Home Improvement stores in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Their plan involved either stealing merchandise or purchasing clearance items from Lowe's stores, and later returning the items at full price in exchange for gift cards.

Those gift cards were sold on the street for cash.

Both face up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000.
