Tuskegee Airman Speaks at Halifax County High School

Halifax Co.,VA-- JROTC students at Halifax County High School had a very special treat Wednesday evening.

A Tuskegee airman, CMSgt. Grant S. Williams spoke at their awards ceremony. Sgt.. WIlliams is actually a native of Halifax County, and attended Halifax County High School, which used to be called Halifax County Training School.

Williams spoke to the students about the history of the Tuskegee airmen and encouraged them to be hard workers. He said he was honored to be able to speak to cadets, back in his hometown.

"I was quite surprised that I got the opportunity to come and I'm proud of the fact that they thought enough about me that they wanted to hear what I have to say," Sgt.. Williams said.

The JROTC students also gave Sgt.. Williams a birthday cake. He'll turn 93 next week.
