      Turkey Chili

      Ingredients:

      • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
      • 2 med Onions, chopped
      • 2 lbs ground Turkey
      • 2 16-oz cans canned Tomatoes; NOT Italian style
      • 1 cup water
      • 1/4 cup Chili powder
      • 1 tbsp Corn meal
      • 1 tbsp Sugar
      • 2 tsp ground Cumin
      • 2 tsp Salt
      • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper
      • 1/4 tsp Black pepper, freshly ground
      • 2 16-oz cans Kidney beans; or 17-oz cans
      • 1/2 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, grated
      • 4 tbsp Sour cream
      • 2 cloves Garlic, crushed

      Directions:

      1. Saute onion and garlic. Add turkey and brown. {}Drain fat.

      2. Add tomatoes and all ingredients except beans.

      3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours, adding water if needed. {}After 1 1/2 hours, add the beans. (Do not add them too early, or they will be mushy.)

      4. Serve with a dollup of sour cream and sharp cheddar cheese.
