Durham, NC -- The fourteen-year-old Tunstall Middle School student who has been waiting on a heart transplant finally received a new one late Sunday evening.
Over the past couple months, there's been an outpouring of support from the community for Jake Lee and his family. A non-profit organization called Team Jake was even started.
Family and friends say Jake's doing quite well and has been very responsive. But now he's got a long road to recovery, which could take up to six months.
They hope he'll be out of the hospital soon and will stay at the Ronald McDonald House before coming home.
"The community has been very supportive with us and continue to be very supportive with us. Four to six months will be a very long time for Jake, but it's for the best for his benefit," said Allison Pritchett, Team Jake Co-President.
