Tunstall Middle School Rallies Around Student in Need of New Heart
Dry Fork, VA - The Tunstall Middle School family is rallying around one of its own in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant.
Jake Lee is an 8th grader on the baseball team, and was diagnosed with a heart condition in October.
A non-profit called Team Jake has organized several fundraisers to help his family with medical expenses.
Now, four teachers at the middle school have started a weight loss challenge.
Members of the community and local businesses have pledged to donate money for each pound lost over the next two months.
The teachers hope to raise a few thousand dollars.
"Being Jake's teacher, I want to be able to associate with what he's going through. And it gave me the idea with how much weight Jake lost, to lose the weight with him," said 8th Grade Math Teacher Michael Nemec.
