Travel Resumes After Hurricane Sandy

Lynchburg, VA - Things are starting to move again after Superstorm Sandy disrupted travel throughout the Northeast.

Amtrak is now running a modified route restoring Virginia service to Lynchburg, Richmond and Newport News, but there are still no trains to New York City.

Air service to the Big Apple is also still an issue, according to Lynchburg Regional Airport Manager Mark Courtney.

"The big problem area is still New York City airports. LaGuardia is still closed. Newark was just opening this morning and JFK is up and operating. Things are starting to return," he said.

If you were booked on a flight to LaGuardia, the best thing to do is to check with your airline to re-route to another airport, re-book for another date, or see what your refund options are.
