Trail Ride Benefits Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Department

Danville, VA-- Over 200 people came out to ride horses in Danville on{}Saturday, and it was all for a good cause.

The Ninth Annual Trail ride was held to benefit the Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Department. This year organizers say they had their biggest turn out.

People arrived as early as last night to set up their campers. They kicked of the trail ride at 10 a.m. There was lunch, dinner, a 50-50 raffle, an auction and a live band.

One of the participants allowed the fire department to use her land for the trail ride. She said it's the least she can do.

"The guys in the fire department do a lot for the community, they're always there if you need them and this is our way of giving back to them and because they work hard for us, we work hard for them,' said Nancy Duncan.

The treasurer of the fire department says they'll raise at least $6,000 to $7,000 from the event.
