Crews Cleaning Up After Tractor-Trailer Wreck on Route 220

Update 2 p.m.:

Henry Co., VA - Officials are investigating a tractor-trailer accident that happened Thursday morning on Route 220.

Virginia State Police officers say the tractor trailer driver was traveling northbound when the he ran off the right side of the road and then over-corrected and ran off into a ditch before overturning.

The driver, Lawrence Douglas Martin, 45, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. He was charged with reckless driving.

VDOT officials are on the scene and say it will be several hours before the crash site is cleaned and the roads reopen.


Henry Co.,VA - A tractor trailer carrying turkeys flipped over on Route 220 Thursday morning, causing traffic delays in the area.

We're told the accident happened about 7 a.m. about three miles south of Ridgeway.

A crew on the scene says some of the turkeys are dead and others are barely making it.

Expect delays if you're in the area. Both northbound lanes are closed and that traffic is being rerouted into one southbound lane.
