Danville, VA - Law enforcement on the Southside ran through the streets of downtown Danville Tuesday for a good cause.
It was all part of a torch run for the Special Olympics. Tuesday morning, they started their run at the Henry County line and ran through Danville.
The run is intended to raise money raise awareness about the Special Olympics. So far this year, the Southside region has raised more than $10,000 for the cause.
The money will go towards food and housing for the Olympic athletes and their families. Many say while the run is for a good cause, it is also a lot of fun.
"They enjoy it, people ride by blowing the horns, their waving, hollering at each other, having a good time out here," said Shannon Edwards with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
A group will run again Wednesday from Danville to Lynchburg. The games will be this weekend in Richmond.
