Update: Lanes on Lakeside Road Opened After Utility Pole Catches Fire

Update 4: 30 p.m.:

Lynchburg, VA - Officials say all the eastbound lanes are now open and one lane is still closed westbound.

Update 3:45 p.m.:

Lynchburg, VA - A power pole went down just past the True Value on Lakeside Drive, so crews had to block traffic on the busy street Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews say a transformer blew, but they don't know if it was weather related.

The top of the pole caught on fire.

One person who lives nearby called ABC 13 News to report she lost power for just a little bit and then it went back up.

AEP crews were on the scene around 3:30 p.m.

Lynchburg Police and Fire Departments are on the scene. They are waiting for AEP crews to get there.
