Lynchburg, VA - A bad day made got even worse for one Lynchburg man who lost some pretty pricey items after they fell off his truck.
To add insult to injury, by the time he realized what happened and went back, he saw a thief making off with his goods.
It happened at the intersection of 501 and Lakeside Drive around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
There are no leads as of yet, and that is why officials want you to take a good look at the surveillance video to help them solve this crime.
"Pretty low down for somebody to do that,"said David Doss.
The man in the surveillance video scoops up Doss's tools and takes off.
"I pulled up to the intersection here and the tailgate on my truck was down and tools slid out on to the pavement," said Doss.
The night of this crime it was raining, traffic was bottled up, and Doss says he did not hear the metal hit the ground. As he continued down the road toward 501, he says someone flagged him down and told him what happened. He went right back and saw the guy stealing his stuff.
"There was somebody here, actually parked right here that was getting my tools and loading them into their truck," said Doss.
Doss says he saw the man loading his tools into the man's truck.
"I thought maybe it was somebody in here [Billy Craft Honda] because it was raining, so I thought, maybe they're taking my tools inside," said Doss.
He was taking them inside, alright. Inside his truck before making off with a miter saw and miter stand, a short step ladder and a step horse; items that do not come cheap.
"$700 to $800," said Doss. "I was very upset, very upset, in fact I don't think I slept last night thinking about it."
Lynchburg Police say they are looking for a white Toyota four-door pick-up truck. A similar truck was last seen heading into the city on Lakeside Drive.
In the meantime, Doss will have to wait.
"It would be really nice if the tools were returned...but I don't know if that's going to happen," said Doss.
