Thursday Night Full Court Press Highlights and Scores

E.C. Glass and Heritage won Region 3, Division 4 semifinal games Thursday night at Glass to wrap up state tournament berths.

Glass got a game-high 23 points from Shawn Brown to beat Lord Botetourt 72-52 while Heritage got 20 from Jeremy Hill in a 66-51 win over William Byrd. Byrd actually led that game 20-8 after one period before the Pioneers stormed back to win.

Glass and Heritage will face off for the fourth time this season Saturday night, this time for the region championship. Heritage won the first meeting, but the Hilltoppers have won the last two.

Game time is set for 7:00 Saturday night at E.C. Glass.

Battlefield upset G.W. in Division 5, Northwest Region action 95-89, Jarod Williams poured in 37 for the Eagles in a losing effort.

The V.E.S. boys got 23 from Anthony Swan, including seven 3's in a 71-53 win over Blue Ridge in the V.I.C. Tournament. V.E.S. will face Miller School in Saturday's title game at Roanoke College, Miller got by L.C.A. 56-51.

The Brookville and Altavista girls punched their state tournament tickets Thursday night. Brookville got 27 points from Anitra Thomas in a 51-36 win over Northside, the Bees will host Spotswood Saturday night at 7 for the region championship.

Altavista defeated Madison County 46-29 in the Region B, Division One semifinals. The Colonels advance to face East Rockingham Saturday for the region title.

In Blue Ridge Conference girls semifinal action, L.C.A. routed Roanoke Catholic 75-34. Gena Penick led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points, Raven Jefferson scored her 1,000th career point. L.C.A. will battle Miller School in the title game, 5:30 Saturday evening at Roanoke College.
