Thousands Lose Power During Ice Storm

Across the ABC-13 Viewing Area - The power outage numbers continue to rise as ice weighs down trees and power lines across Virginia.

Appalachian Power is reporting about more than 7,000 customers without power in Virginia. The largest outages in the ABC-13 viewing area are in Henry, Amherst and Campbell counties.

Dominion is reporting more than 58,000 outages across the state. In our area, the largest Dominion outages are in Pittsylvania and Campbell counties.

Central Virginia Electric Cooperative is reporting close to 2,100 outages. A good chunk of those are in the Piney River area of Nelson County.

These numbers are expected to change throughout the morning.
