Ringgold, VA-- Thousands of people flocked to the opening of the annual Danville Pittsylvania County Fair in Ringgold on Friday.
The fairground was slammed packed with 35 rides and plenty of food vendors.
Organizers said this year's big attraction is the demolition derby and a magic show. They've been setting up for the fair since last Saturday and expect to have about 50,000 attendees throughout the week.
One person at the fair said he's been going to the fair for years, and it keep getting better and better.
"It's a lot more better rides and it seems like it's a whole lot more fun," said Kenny Colby, a fair attendee. "It's a chance for everyone to unwind and let loose and have a good time."
The fair runs through September 21. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
