The Year of Travel: Atlanta by Dhomonique Ricks

By: Dhomonique Ricks

My first trip of this year brought me to Atlanta to visit one of my good friends. Boy, I had a blast! This was my first time there. I flew down on a Friday in January and flew back at the crack of dawn Sunday (because I was on TV that night.)

The trip flew by, and I think I slept a total of five hours that entire time. It was so worth it to take in all the sights and sounds of the city. My friend works for CNN, so I had a chance to visit the headquarters. The size of the building is unbelievable, so large. In fact, there are hotel rooms in the building! While there, we ran into a few big names like Robin Meade and Susan Hendricks from HLN.

We also spent some time at the world's largest aquarium. After that, we went to the top of the W hotel to the Sun Dial restaurant. The restaurant actually rotates, giving you a 360 degree video of the heart of downtown. Unfortunately, the entire time I was there it rained. There was so much fog that we could only see gray clouds, not the city's sky scape.

We went to a Hawks game the last night, which was pretty neat. We also spent some time in Atlantic Station where we went to this really cute candy/ice cream shop.

It was a great time to really refresh my mind and my senses. Can't wait for my next trip of the year...I wonder where it will take me.
