The Weekly Buzz: June 20-22, Free Smoothies, Camp Sunshine, and Adoption Fundraiser
Lynchburg, VA - On Friday you can throw on your flip flops and head to Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Timberlake Road in Lynchburg and get a free smoothie. The promotion is from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. It's part of a nationwide effort to raise money for Camp Sunshine, which provides a getaway for kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families. One Lynchburg couple trying to adopt an 8-year-old boy from India is throwing one to cover the adoption costs. It's this Saturday at Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg from 8 am until 2 p.m. There will be everything from furniture to Stella & Dot Jewelry for sale. Hill City Smokehouse will be selling breakfast and lunch. On Saturday you may hear a lot of motorcycles, all in an effort to raise money for a baby with a life threatening birth defect and he hasn't even been born yet. Baby Averee has Gastroschisis, a defect that causes the baby's intestines to grow outside of his body. Head to a Bike Run at Toppers Wings and Things to watch the motorcycles. There will also be a bake sale, car wash, and face painting for the kids. It starts at 12:30 p.m.and admission is $10. If you can't make it out they are also selling bracelets to help.
