The Weekly Buzz - July 4-6: Outdoor Extravaganza, Independence Day, and Wine
Lynchburg, VA - Benjamin Franklin once said "In wine there is wisdom, and in beer there is freedom." And if you head out to an outdoor extravaganza at Sweet Briar College on Friday, you could put the saying to the test. Wild Wolf Brewing Company will begin pouring on site at 5:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy ice cream, balloon raffles, corn hole and sparklers. You can also enjoy all of it to live music by the cast of Two Gentlemen of Virginia, which does a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona. You can also celebrate Independence Day at Poplar Forest. The family friendly event will feature music, dancing, demonstrations by colonial artisans and craftsman, pony rides, puppet shows, children's games and more. The event is Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 4th Annual Watermelon Wine Festival is this Saturday at Devault Family Vineyards in Concord. It's from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and features live music, watermelon themed contests, and local food. The pool will also be open. If you don't want the fun to end, bring your glass and wristband to the event on Sunday and the cost is half the price.
