Lynchburg, VA - The Salvation Army is an oasis in the heat right now with their cooling center.
They have converted their Center of Hope dining room to a cooling center for senior citizens and the elderly.
They say it's for folks who need a place to get out of the heat and into an air conditioned environment.
Ron Ware, a Case Worker for The Salvation Army says, "People need to get out of the heat. And this is a place where they can come--spend a couple of minutes, an hour or so, and just get out of the heat, get a drink of water, sit down, kick back for just a little bit."
Salvation Army is also trying to send fans home with people who need them.
They ask that if you have a new or used fan in good condition, please bring it to their Park Avenue location in Lynchburg, the Family Store in Fort Hill Village or the Family Store in Appomattox.
