The Buzz: Memorial Day Weekend

Hey there! Many of you will have a three-day weekend and there are plenty of ways you can celebrate Memorial Day in town.

Come out to the National D-Day Memorial on Saturday, May 26 for a special Moonlight Serenade. The Jefferson Choral Society will perform a concert with memorable music and beautiful lights. The event starts at 7 p.m. and the concert is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door for adults. There will also be a Memorial Day program on Monday at 11 a.m. and admission will be free until noon.

In Lynchburg- Point of Honor is free for everyone from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Memorial Day. And at Monument Terrace- there will be a Memorial Day Observance that starts at 11 a.m. Veterans and those in active duty will be honored.

If you like looking into the night sky on Saturday, May 26 your family can learn some astronomy from an expert at Poplar Forest. The Stargazing retreat will let you look through a telescope and if it's not too cloudyyou'll be able to see Saturn and its rings. Discussion is at 8 p.m. and the observation is at 9 p.m. Reservations are required.{}

It's going to be a HOT weekend- and you can cool off at the Splash Valley Water Park in Roanoke. Its kicking off the season Friday, May 25 with an opening day party at noon. The park has two 34-foot water slides, a current river a children's play area. The park will be open until August.
