Terry McAuliffe Receives Local Endorsement

Evington, VA - Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor, was in our area Wednesday.

He spent some time touring a dairy farm in Evington. He also received a pretty big endorsement from long time Virginia delegate and independent, Watkins Abbitt.

For more than a decade, Abbitt caucused with House Republicans. He spent 15 years as a Democrat, and in 2001 switched to an Independent.

"He understands the problems of rural Virginia and I think he's the right person at the right time to bring leadership to Virginia," said Abbitt.

"People know I'll work with anybody, there's no such thing as a democratic job or a republican job," said McAuliffe,

McAuliffe marks the first democrat Abbitt has endorsed since he switched parties in 2001.

McAuliffe is running against Republican Ken Cuccinelli.
