Update: Teen Boy Nearly Drowns in Amherst Co.

Amherst Co., VA - A teenage boy is recovering at UVa after nearly drowning in a pool in Madison Heights Wednesday afternoon.
Bailey Thomas, 14, was taken by ambulance to Lynchburg General and later flown to Charlottesville.
Thomas was playing in a family pool on River Road with several other children, according to Public Safety Director Gary Roakes. Roakes says the boy knows how to swim and no one is sure how he ended up at the bottom of the pool. He was pulled out by an 18-year-old, according to Roakes.
Cell phone service was spotty from the home and dispatch had to call back twice to talk the people there through CPR, according to Roakes.
Thomas is a student at Liberty Christian Academy. The school said on Twitter Thursday afternoon Thomas is expected to recover.
Pastor Jonathan Falwell posted on social media Thursday afternoon that the teen is responding to some commands and had a good neurological scan Thursday morning.The hospital cannot release the teen's condition because he is a minor.
