Lynchburg, VA - Neighborhoods in Lynchburg were placed on lock down Wednesday, as multiple law enforcement agencies looked for two men wanted after a suspicious incident at a jewelry store in Forest.
Police say the two men could be armed and they could be dangerous.
Law enforcement agencies kicked off their manhunt in Wyndhurst. All this police activity was terrifying for many in the usually quiet community.
"We were nervous when we saw all the officers out here, I mean who wouldn't be nervous?" said Bob Forrest who was placed on lock down by law enforcement.
The police response was strong, to say the least; a state police helicopter, five law enforcement agencies in all, including federal investigators.
"There were several of them here and a police officer got out of his car and came over and asked us to go on inside and to just lock up and not come out" said Forrest.
The entire Wyndhurst neighborhood surrounding Thornsfield Drive was on lock down as law enforcement searched for two men in connection to a suspicious incident that took place outside of Finks Jewelers in Forest.
Law enforcement officials say when the men were approached, "That's when they sped off the lot before we could actually exit our vehicles, sped off the lot, and then they ditched the car in the subdivision" said Captain Mike Miller of the Bedford County Sheriff's Office.
The maroon getaway car, a 2010 Nissan Altima was ditched right in front of John Buchanan's house. His back yard was their path of escape.
"They ran through here, in between that house up there" said Buchanan.
"There was three officers that went with the dog and they started tracking the individuals which at the time, I didn't know what they were doing" he said.
Weapons drawn police pursued the men on foot. Their track took them to Graves Mill Road, and stopped.
"When I found out what was going on, and it was quite frightening" said Buchanan.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says a female was with the two men at Finks Jewelers; she was held and questioned.
Police say the two men are black. One is tall and was wearing a red cap, blue jeans, and a white shirt. The other was last seen wearing jeans, a black shirt, and a Charlotte Hornets cap.
If you see them, or know anything about this, call 911. Do not approach them, police say they could be dangerous.
