Pittsylvania Co., VA - Supervisors in Pittsylvania County voted against the option to evaluate the salaries of county employees to see if adjustments may be needed.
The board was considering a plan to compare the salaries of county employees to employees in similar localities to see if the salaries were comparable.
Supervisor Jesse Barksdale was originally chosen to spearhead that effort. But the county voted almost unanimously, with Barksdale being the only one opposed , to suspend that effort.
Supervisor Jerry Hagerman said it came down to cost.
"We're trying to trim down and make our county better for the public but yet, less costly," he said.
Hagerman says employee salaries are important to the Board, and they plan to reconsider the issue in the future.
