Roanoke, VA - Virginia Tech students created a design for a transportation hub in downtown Roanoke and Wednesday they got to show it off to city leaders.
Four teams spent 10 weeks on the project, a vision for a potential station on 1st Street and 10th Street.
Students say the project was challenging, but fun. Many said they wanted to create something based off existing features already in downtown.
"Also we wanted to create new elements that were essentially upgrading what was already going on in downtown Roanoke without, of course, designing (a) completely different system," said Student Engineer Martin Felzman.
The students do not expect any of their designs to be chosen. They say the goal is to show leaders other possibilities.
