From Lynchburg city officials:
Lynchburg residents in the downtown area and anyone planning to attend the event being held at the Lynchburg Armory on Saturday, October 27 with Vice President Joe Biden should be aware of the following:
Armory doors will open at 2:30 p.m. In order to attend the event you must have an event ticket. Everyone entering the Armory must go through a security check. Signs, large bags, or umbrellas will not be allowed.
The 1200 and 1300 blocks of Church Street (12th Street to Washington Street) and the 1200 block of Court Street will be closed to all traffic from 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 27 until approximately 8:00 p.m.
There will be no parking on Saturday in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Church Street (12th Street to Washington Street) and the 1200 block of Court Street from 12:00 a.m. on Saturday morning until the street is reopened. Temporary 'No Parking' signs will be posted. Any vehicles parked in these areas will be towed immediately at the owner's expense.
There will be limited parking in the immediate area of the Lynchburg Armory. Those who plan to attend should consider parking in one of the City's public parking decks/lots. There is no charge to park in the City-owned lots/decks on weekends. There will be very limited handicapped parking at the Community Market.
The Community Market will close at 1:30 p.m. the day of the event.
Anyone wishing to visit the YMCA at 1315 Church Street should plan to use the Washington Street access.
All pedestrians must approach the City Armory from the 12th Street side in order to enter the Armory for the event.
Beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, no pedestrians will be allowed between the 1200-1330 blocks of Church Street.
