Lynchburg, VA - After a few showers and storms today, get ready for a noticeable break in the heat and humidity for Thursday. The rain chances will drop off as well Thursday.
Any storms that develop today could be strong, but the front is moving fast, so storms and heavy rain are not expected to linger over the area for any extended amount of time. Instead, the showers and storms will likely pass through fairly quickly, from west to east during the day.
Highs today will be in the 80s to near 90, but behind the cold front Thursday, highs will only touch 80 in spots. The mountains will only be in the 70s for highs Thursday - very unusual for this time of the year.
The biggest change in the forecast will be a drastic drop in the humidity. Much drier air will be moving in from the north during the day, making it feel very pleasant and refreshing to be outdoors.
Enjoy the change while you still can, by the weekend, scattered showers and storms return to the forecast.
