Store Employee Stabbed, Killed in Danville, Police Searching for Suspect

Danville, VA - Police need your help following the fatal stabbing of a convenient store employee overnight Sunday.

The victim, Gilmore Martin Cowan, 56, of Pittsylvania County, was just leaving work shortly after midnight at the Airport Gas Station on South Boston Road, when a man wearing a mask stabbed him, police say.

Police say the stabbing suspect was possibly cut during the attack as well and fled on foot along with another man who was present. The second man is described as a black male, around 5' 10", in his early 30s with close cut hair.

Cowen was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department by a friend where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, police say.

Danville Police are asking that all merchants report any suspicious activity immediately.
