State Police: Nine Fatalities Over the Labor Day Weekend

Richmond, VA - A total of nine people died in nine crashes in Virginia over the Labor Day weekend, State Police say.

Two separate fatal crashes took place in Chesterfield County. One fatality involved a moped in Virginia Beach.

The remaining six crashes took place in the counties of Bland, Campbell, Frederick, Hanover, Lee, and Roanoke. Alcohol was a factor in at least two of the traffic fatalities. Of the eight passenger vehicle crashes, five of the victims were not wearing their seat belts.
