Speedway Is Pink for Cancer Awareness Month
Martinsville, VA - The Martinsville Speedway has gone pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Thursday, a group of breast cancer survivors as well as truck series driver, Cale Gale, were painting a portion of the curb pink.
Representatives of the Young Survival Coalition and Speedway President Clay Campbell were also there to help out.
The Speedway started this tradition to support survivors in the community and increase awareness.
"A lot of people watch Martinsville, they know the curbs, they know they are supposed to be yellow and when they put on pink, you know, it's October, it's breast cancer awareness month," said Amy Sharp, a cancer survivor.
"To be a part of such a special cause and raising breast cancer awareness and helping that word get out about it, it's obviously very special," said Cale Gale, a NASCAR truck series driver.
Gale is also driving a pink truck this month to benefit the Young Survival Coalition.
