Spa Recognizes Woman for Sacrifice

We are hearing more and more stories of companies who are paying it forward. One local spa and salon is doing just that. Spa 4109 in Lynchburg is now honoring women in the community who do more for others than themselves. It is all done through a nomination process. Once a month, someone is chosen based on their story. We were there as the winner from this month was surprised.

Jessica Williams, mother of three, soon to be four was this month's winner.

She was picked because of this; a heartfelt letter written by her husband.

"As I begin to submit for this gift card, I quickly realized how hard it would be to sum up all that my wife is to anybody," read Williams. "I would want nothing more in this world than for my wife to have the ability to win this certificate so that for once instead of taking care of everyone else, she can have somebody take care of her."

You see, Jessica's story dates back a few months ago when her husband fell ill with a bad infection. Once discharged from the hospital, he was on bed rest for three months.

"I depend on him a whole lot and to have one parent down and then you have the rest of your family to take care of, it's hard," said Williams, a Nurse at Otter River Elem. School.

Not only was she a full time parent taking care of the kids, she was also working full time.

Joellen Perkins with Spa 4109 says it's stories like this that need to be recognized.

"To be able to come here and present this to her just meant the world. My business partner and I just kind of sat and cried as she opened her gift," said Perkins.

Williams took home a $100 gift card. Her fourth child is due next month and she says she could definitely use a little bit of pampering.
