Danville, VA -- Some Southside kids got a trip of a lifetime. A group of 30 kids from the Boys and Girls Club and Cardinal Village Community Center in Danville went to the White House last week.
They were invited to tour the garden. The kids had been creating a vegetable garden of their own and giving their produce to the needy. Now they got to see what a professional garden is like. While in DC, the kids also got to visit monuments and even went on a college tour.
"I think it could have been a life changing experience. Many of those children seldom have a chance to get out of the city, much less to go on a trip to the White House," said Debbie Sparks, marketing director for Boys and Girls Club.
They plan to continue to garden next year and they hope to be invited back.
