Danville, VA-- Folks in Southside took advantage of Black Friday deals even at local stores.
The Gingerbread House in Danville decided to not follow the new Brown Thursday trend.
They opened their doors at 8 a.m. Friday morning with their "Day after Thanksgiving" sale.
The manager said they were steady all morning but got a huge rush in the afternoon.
They said their three hottest items all day were their Christmas trees, Luminara Candles and Vera Bradley bags.
"It's been good," said Brian Hamlett, Manager of The Gingerbread House. "I expect a lot of people did go out last night and are probably sleeping this morning and we'll be busy in the afternoon. It's rule after lunch we really really get busy."
To kick-off the holiday shopping season the Gingerbread House will be open on Sundays until Christmas.
