South Boston, VA - Downtown South Boston held their 27th annual Christmas Open House Sunday.
The event is how the town kicks off the holiday season.
Many downtown businesses that usually keep their doors closed on Sundays, welcomed patrons.
Stores had special sales and some even had free refreshments.
It's a way to remind the public to spend their Christmas shopping money in their own backyard.
"Just trying to draw people to downtown, to show them what we have in our own town that they don't have to go out of town to get. We're trying to keep people within South Boston," said Rhonda Green, Owner of Distinct Impression.
South Boston will continue their Christmas celebration next Saturday, December 7 with their annual Christmas parade.
