Pittsylvania Co., VA - A South Boston woman is using her experience with grief to touch the lives of others.Shelley Ramsey lost her 17-year-old son Joseph in a car accident 11 years ago.
Now she's written a book called "Grief: A Mama's Unwanted Journey" to help others dealing with loss.
The first time author says the book talks about finding joy even after a devastating event.
She's getting support throughout the community, with many local shops and salons selling the book, and it's also available through Amazon.com.
Ramsey says her faith led her to share her journey with others.
"God brought me through all of this, and it was Him and Him alone that brought it, and I wanted to share that and offer that same hope with other parents, " Ramsey said. She will hold a book signing event at the South Boston/Halifax County Visitors Center on Sunday, October 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
She will also sign books at The Packhouse Cafe in Halifax November 2 from 9:30 am to 11:30 a.m.
