UPDATE: Six-Year-Old Killed in Bedford Co. Crash

Bedford, VA - Funeral arrangements have been made for a Bedford boy who died in a weekend car crash.

The family of Ethan Aponte, 6, will visit with friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home in Bedford.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sedalia Baptist Church.

Ethan was a 1st grader at Bedford Primary School.

There are counselors at the school, but we're told many of the children are just too young to understand why Ethan hasn't been at school.-------------

Bedford Co., VA - State Police say a six-year-old died in a car wreck Saturday in Bedford County.Ethan Wayne Aponte, 6, of Bedford, was a rear seat passenger in his mother's Ford Focus. State Police say the driver, Emily Lynn Aponte, 30, of Bedford, was traveling south on Route 726 when she crossed the center line and hit a 1999 Chevrolet Astro van head on. Ethan was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 11 p.m. State Police say he was in a child booster seat at the time of the crash. The driver of the van, Danny Harrison Dooley, 59, of Thaxton, was transported by ambulance to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. ABC 13 checked with the mother's condition after the wreck.
