Six People Displaced After Salem House Fire

Salem, VA - A home has major fire and smoke damage after it caught fire in Salem late Tuesday night.

Fire crews were called to a home on Mount Vernon Avenue about 10:45 p.m. It took them about 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

Gusty winds only made things more difficult for fire fighters.

There were six people inside the home at the time of the fire and all got out safely.

The Red Cross is assisting the victims with meals and lodging.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
