Danville, VA-- It was all about Shrimp on Wednesday in Downtown Danville.
The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce and Danville Harvest Jubilee hosted Shrimp Fest 2013 at the Community Market.
Tickets sold out in less than three hours, and they had over 1700 people eat. Around 2,000 pounds of shrimp were served Wednesday evening.
Organizers said the event has been going on for more than 20 years, and has become a traditional social event for Danville residents.
"It's just a great opportunity," said Laurie Moran, President of Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce. "People love to come out, we see people sometimes we don't see until the next year at Shrimp Fest, so it really has become the social event in Danville."
Shrimp Fest raised around $30,000. The money will go toward programs and activities by the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce and Danville Harvest Jubilee.
