UPDATE: Shelter-in-Place Lifted at Roanoke's Westside Elementary

UPDATE: 12:47 a.m.

Roanoke, VA - A Roanoke elementary school spent Wednesday morning under a shelter in place.

According to Roanoke City Schools Spokesman Justin McLeod, the shelter-in-place at Westside Elementary School was lifted at 12:15 p.m.

Police say shots were fired from one car to another car on a nearby street near Westside Elementary.

McLeod said a automated phone call was sent out to parents. No students were ever in any immediate harm, McLead said.

Officials issued the "shelter in place" at the school as a precaution, meaning children can move around inside the building but can't go outside.
