Bedford Co., VA- State Police are investigating an accident in Bedford County Sunday that sent four adults and a child to the hospital. Police say it happened around 2 p.m. on Route 460 at Fralin Lane. We're told 70-year-old James Russell Girty Jr., of Roanoke was driving westbound on Route 460 when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, drove through the median, and overturned in the eastbound lane of 460.
Police say Girty was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Three adult passengers and a small child were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Girty has been charged for failing to maintain proper control of his vehicle.
