Several Local Agencies Get Gang Training

Pittsylvania Co., VA - Agencies from all over the state came together in Pittsylvania County to talk about gangs Monday.

The Sheriff's office hosted the workshop at the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex.

Presentations were given on the different signs and symbols associated with gangs across the state and ways to identify them.

Officials say classes like these help law enforcement stay ahead of the curve.

"They're able to recognize the signs, the symptoms, the indicators that gangs are trying to infiltrate rural communities such as where we are today," said Gary Clore, the Department of Corrections Gang and Security Threat Group Unit.

Clore says the governor made a push for more classes like these across the state earlier this year.
