Bedford, VA - A statue to honor the Bedford Boys will soon be standing tall on nearly 18,000 pounds of granite.
The base for the sculpture called "Homage" arrived Wednesday morning at The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.
A crane and straps were used to lower it, so it could be pulled to its spot by a truck.
The granite came from a quarry in Vermont.
The sculpture will arrive next week, and will be unveiled next Friday, the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
