Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg City Schools are doing their part to help kids. Several schools have put out collection buckets to give their students a chance to help fund a new pediatric unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.
One is at E.C. Glass High School. Principal Kevin Latham says his cafeteria is a great spot.
"We have a great student body. They like to give of themselves and their time. And this is a great effort. I mean, this will help kids in our community right away. And it's something that we should try and strive for," Latham said.
So far schools have been very generous. Campbell County Schools raised more than $10,000 for the new unit. Student Haley Mitchell of Brookneal raised more than $600.
And you can pitch in for the Here to Help Kids Project, just by heading to a baseball game. If you attend this Sunday's Lynchburg Hillcats game, you'll be supporting the project. Half of the ticket price will help fund that new unit. The game time is 2:00 p.m.
