Scavenger Hunt Draws Crowd to Downtown Danville

Danville, VA - Main Street in Danville saw a lot more foot traffic than usual this evening because there was hundreds of dollars up for grabs. As part of Business Appreciation Week, The Downtown Danville Association hosted a scavenger hunt.Folks met at the Main Street Plaza, picked up a flyer and rummaged through stores to find each item. When they found them, they got a stamp. After finding all ten items, each person got one raffle ticket which put them in the running for $500. To have a better chance of winning, every $10 they spent with a participating store, they got another ticket. It's all about getting residents to spend more money downtown. "It's a good thing because you can go and see all the stores and you might see something that you like and just buy it," said Emma Larking, who participated in the scavenger hunt.Organizers hope the event will become a tradition in the River District.
