Lynchburg, VA- The start of Scaremare may still be a few weeks away, but organizers are getting an early start on the preparations.
This year will mark the 40th anniversary of the event, which is sponsored by The Center for Youth Ministries at Liberty University. Saturday crews began setting up tents, cleaning paths, and getting everything in place.
Workers said they want to go big for their 40th year. Organizers gave us some insight into the course, saying that it will test your fear of heights.
They also say they are thankful to have such a large group of volunteers to make it all possible.
"They just like being a part of a bigger project, and without them, this simply would not happen so we have the students that have the enthusiasm to work together and to be able to interact with the community," said Dr. Stephen Vandegriff, director of Scaremare.
Scaremare runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during the last three weekends in October.
