Sandusky Middle Principal Put on Administrative Leave

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg City school officials have placed the principal of Sandusky Middle School, Jay Sales, on administrative leave.

Parents were notified by a phone message about Sales leave Friday evening.

School official say aren't saying why Sales is on leave, only citing a 'personnel issue."

Sales has been the principal at Sandusky Middle since 2001. Director of Student Services Gloria Preston will serve as the interim principal

Superintendent Dr. Paul McKendrick will answer questions for parents Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Sandusky Middle.

Message that was sent to parents on Friday:

Hello, This is Paul McKendrick, superintendent Lynchburg City Schools. This is to inform you that Mr. Jay Sales, principal of Sandusky Middle School, is currently on leave. The length of the leave has yet to be determined. For the immediate future, though, Ms. Gloria Preston will serve as interim principal. Ms. Preston is currently our director of student services. As a parent you may have questions about this matter, and therefore I would like to meet with you on Tuesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the school. Of course, the purpose of the meeting is to answer any questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation in this matter.
